Boy Scouts Buckskin Council

Charleston, WV

The Buckskin Council Boy Scouts has a beautiful facility helping them meet their mission and double the area served. Pray Construction led the design-build team for the $3.7 million, 13,000 SF project. The original office, built 40 years earlier, was renovated and a new wing added. The new space includes a large activities area, showers, and a kitchen for scouting activities. From this wing, scouts can access the fire ring and camping area on the riverbank. The new area includes a Scout Store which stocks all scouts’ essentials. A conference center, with a beautiful river view, was added as well. The timber frame entrance leads to a unique lobby space with vaulted ceilings, an 18-foot artificial tree which shades a park bench and a life-sized bronze sculpture of building’s name sake, H. Bernard Wehrle, Sr. A large deck sits above a fire ring near the river’s edge, perfect for local and visiting scouts.

Listen to Jeff Purdy“Pray Construction delivered our new building on time and on budget. They were very professional in how they do business, but also provided a personal level of service that made our experience with them comfortable and accommodating. I would not hesitate using them again for any construction project.”

Dickenson County Courthouse

Clintwood, VA

Under a court order by the Virginia Supreme Court, Dickenson County was required to build a new courthouse with a limited budget, very specific design parameters and a tight calendar. County officials took advantage of new legislation which allowed them to utilize a design build project delivery method. They were able to keep this project in the $8 million range while adding back into the project features they wanted, such as a terrazzo floor. The three-story, new construction project has two beautiful court rooms, secured access for judges and prisoners, improved and secure public space for district and circuit court offices, on a significantly improved site with additional parking.

Listen To Freddie “Pray Construction’s  attention to detail is like no other company I have worked with on a construction project. We had milestones to meet and Pray finished those ahead of schedule. And no savings was too small for them to bring to us.”

Mr. Freddie Mullins

Attorney, Industrial Development Authority of Dickenson County, Virginia

Listen To David They treated this project like it was their project. I don’t know what else you can ask out of a contractor. We went from a vision to completion, just as planned. I would work them anytime on any project. Anyone who can tackle a judical building like this, can build anything.”

Ronald McDonald House

Charleston, WV

Ronald McDonald House was thrilled to have a new home that doubles the size of their former location with easy access to CAMC’s Women and Children’s Hospital. They selected Pray Construction as their design-builder and were thrilled with that decision too. The new three-story building includes 14 guest suites and a family den, a two-bedroom manager suite, a great room, kids’ play room administrative offices. The great room boasts a large stone fire place just off the spacious kitchen and eating area. The third floor is an unfinished area for future guest rooms. This home gives them easy access to the hospital.

The purpose of the home is to create a stress-free and comfortable sanctuary for families struggling with a sick child, so a calm quiet setting is important.  The house is adjacent to six lanes of an elevated interstate, and families are living in hotel type rooms, so Pray used a building system new to the industry called insulated concrete forms (ICF) which ensures sound buffering. The design-build team and Ronald McDonald House team worked together to make a comfortable sanctuary for families in need.

Listen to Dewayne Dickens“We learned so much building our new Ronald McDonald house and are so glad we selected Pray as our design-builder. We would use them again, only get them involved earlier. They add value that I wasn’t aware they could. They were amazing from top to bottom.”
